Our mission is to provide a serene, safe, and inclusive space where students can discover optimal wellness through a healthy body, mind and heart. We work to create peace in the world and our community by first creating peace within ourselves. A consistent practice will leave students feeling rejuvenated and inspired - opening the doors to positive transformation and; ultimately creating a calm and peaceful mind, an open and compassionate heart, and a strong feeling of self acceptance. At The Point East Boston Barre & Yoga, our skilled teachers are encouraged to bring their own teaching style and voice, allowing for a unique yoga experience every time. Through our own individual growth and with a strong sense of community, we open our hearts to our students and welcome all to join us.
We stand strongest when we stand together.
The quality or state of being healthy in body and in mind.
We are intimately tied to the community in which we live and serve.
We practice mindfulness of our actions toward others.
Right away we knew we wanted to pay homage to the neighborhood where we are located - Jeffries Point. Being integrated into the community is central to our mission and what we stand for. The Point, as the neighborhood is commonly known as, felt like the perfect name for a place of peace and wellness. The word "Point" also has many other meanings, about 18 (try Googling it)...
The point is the reason or purpose. It signifies the goal of a journey.
Through our practice of yoga and barre, we hope that our students' journeys bring them a feeling of peace, community, and completion. We chose the name “The Point” with our mission in mind: we want to help bring our community together through yoga and good karma.
Our logo is a compass rose. Committed to connecting and respecting the history of our community, we chose the compass rose because it was a nautical tool used by sailors to guide their journey. The inside of the rose is typically filled in with an ornate star that is believed to be symbolic of the North Star, the principle navigational tool people used for centuries to guide themselves from one point to another. The Point East Boston Barre & Yoga hopes to help you navigate through life's transformations.
Our logo is an 8 point star. The roots of the eight-pointed star symbolize the four corners of space. The eight lines are symbolic of directions: north, south, east and west; and time: two solstices and two equinoxes. The universal symbolism of the compass rose represents balance, harmony and cosmic order. The Point hopes to be a place where you can find balance.
We like to think of the eight-points also representing the eight limbs of yoga:
- Yama - Representing ethical standards and integrity.
- Niyama - Focusing on self-discipline and spiritual observances.
- Asana - Working through body postures.
- Pranayama - Breathing exercises and control of prana.
- Pratyahara - Practicing control of the senses.
- Dharana - Concentration and cultivating inner awareness.
- Dhyana - Consciousness arising.
- Samadhi - A state of intense concentration, oneness.
